WONDER

Maybe we call it a Train of thought as it has an orderly sequence similar to a train ride?

Speaking of which, have you ever experienced a train ride where you had  to stand the whole way because it was full? You know, the times where you have to stand idle stealing glimpses of all the faces surrounding you. The times where you realise so many  stories are lived simultaneously in this world.

It makes me Wonder about…..

The girl with a coffee cup in hand halfway dozing off on her seat. The way the man next to her patiently sits straight, so not to disturb her. I suspect they are together. They do look good together. I wonder what their kids might look like. Will they be a morning bird like their father or a person who sleeps even after a strong black coffee like their mother. Well, we may never know.

What about the only person who is reading a book instead of staring at a screen? The concentration and love he has looking at his book will make any girl envious of it. Look at that, he just unknowingly turned a page while slightly tapping his finger across his tongue. He might not realize the bunch of schoolgirls snapping him and giggling around the corner.  It is beautiful to see how a simple movement can garner so much attention.

Nothing beats the girl typing furiously into her phone; maybe, she is late to an interview of a lifetime. Probably not, as she has visible dark circles with chipped nails. No doubt she  has a habit of biting her nails. I wonder if she is going through a breakup. Oh, I think I have been staring for too long. My bad !

There we go. We are passing through a tunnel now. Tunnel phases fascinate me, the sudden cut of light and noise of any kind. It is like we all are in a void just  for a while. Everyone  sitting there in complete darkness with only their phone screen illuminating their faces. Oh, except that guy with the book of course. Makes me wonder if this is what a glitch would feel like if we were part of a video game.

The little girl standing next to her mom didn’t go unnoticed by me. How her eyes sparkle when the train speaker announces anything. How excited she gets when new people enter or leave and wave at her. It makes me wonder if I ever felt like that before on a train ride. This same act has now became mundane to me. Simply a routine.

I always wondered what story a person is going through. Is it as elaborate as mine, maybe even more? Do they have a little voice always talking to them, like I have mine talking right now?

Just like how the guy in a three-piece suit in front of me has tattoo sleeves up both his arms, he is doing a great job at hiding them though. Or maybe like the girl who is in her pajamas but is flaunting the best eye makeup I have ever seen. Odd combinations like those make me wonder that there are no set rules in this world.

Confined in a little space with many faces every morning is something I have gotten used to. It helps me see that life has so much more to offer.

I think my stop is next. Until next time, I guess. I wonder what tomorrow morning will bring to me. More people? More stories to unravel?. After-all everyone has their own story to tell and I can’t wait to observe them.
